Wauw! De tweede editie van 3x3Zwolle event zit erop.
Vorig jaar binnen in het Victorium en nu dan eindelijk buiten in de open lucht. Heerlijk!
Samen met Brian, Pelle en Matthijs hebben we dit evenement vorm gegeven en dankzij vele (rebound) partners, sponsoren en andere stakeholders is dit gelukt.
Naast mijn rol in de stuurgroep, lag mijn verantwoordelijk bij het nomineren, opstellen en samen stellen van de schedules (fluitschema) van de referees. Daarbij hoor ook de pre training, pre talk, planning tijdens event en de after care.
Bij nomineren en samenstellen van de referee groepen op beide dagen heb ik ook gekeken naar de DEI referee community.
DEI staat voor diversiteit, gelijkheid en inclusie (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion). Het verwijst naar een cultuur die gericht is op het erkennen, omarmen, ondersteunen en accepteren van mensen van alle achtergronden. DEI gaat over het bevorderen van een inclusieve omgeving waar iedereen zich welkom en gerespecteerd voelt.
Natuurlijk, de regionale uitstraling staat voorop, er waren teams die voor het eerst 3×3 wedstrijden speelden en teams die, bij wijze van, europa doorreizen op zoek naar deze 3×3 wedstrijden. Voor die teams is het van belang dat ze een finale ticket kunnen behalen voor de finales NBB tour eind juli 2025. Dus regionale uitstraling, met internationaal tintje zowel bij teams, als bij crew/referees.
Daarnaast hadden we referees uit verschillende landen, waaronder nieuwe Nederlanders, verschillende gender, nationaliteiten en passen we een eerlijke behandeling toe voor iedereen (inclusief eventuele vrijwilligers vergoedingen). Daarnaast boden we een hotelovernachting bij Hotel Lumen voor ze aan.
Ook het niveau in skills referees is verschillend. Wij stimuleren dat 5×5 referees opgeleid worden als 3×3 referees en we verzorgen speciale trainingen als voorbereiding op dit toernooi. Wij verzorgen prep talk en vragen om achteraf via een link als crew/referee te evalueren hoe het volgend jaar beter gaat. We kunnen allemaal van elkaar leren en samen als DEI community versterken elkaar. Daar geloof ik echt in.
Tevens zien we dit evenement ook als een opstap dat senior referees, in de geval de nieuwelingen of degene die graag gecoached willen worden, om ze enthousiast te krijgen of ze voor de basketballbond/nbb willen gaan fluiten.
En dat allemaal in 2 dagen gegoten.

Op naar editie 3 in 2026. Waarin Innovation & development voorop staat,
bijv. uitbreiden naar urban side event-court (er zijn nog volop ideeën), dit in overleg met, waar wij te gast mogen zijn, naast het HTC voetbalveld in Zwolle.
Wow! The second edition of the 3x3Zwolle event is done!
Last year inside the Victorium and now finally outside in the open air. Wonderful!
Together with Brian, Pelle and Matthijs we have shaped this event and thanks to many (rebound) partners, sponsors and other stakeholders this was successful.
In addition to my role in the steering group, I was responsible for nominating, drawing up and compiling the schedules (whistle schedule) of the referees. This also includes the pre-training, pre-talk, planning during the event and the aftercare.
When nominating and compiling the referee groups on both days, I also looked at the DEI referee community.
DEI stands for diversity, equality and inclusion (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion). It refers to a culture that is focused on recognizing, embracing, supporting and accepting people from all backgrounds. DEI is about promoting an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome and respected.
Of course, regional appeal is paramount, there were teams that played 3×3 matches for the first time and teams that, so to speak, travel through Europe in search of these 3×3 matches. For those teams it is important that they can obtain a final ticket for the NBB finals tour at the end of July 2025. So regional appeal, with an international touch for both teams and crew/referees.
In addition, we had referees from different countries, including new Dutch people, different genders, nationalities and we apply fair treatment for everyone (including any volunteer compensation). In addition, we offered them a hotel stay by Hotel Lumen.
The level of referee skills also varies. We encourage 5×5 referees to be trained as 3×3 referees and we provide special training in preparation for this tournament. We provide prep talk and ask to evaluate afterwards via a link as crew/referee how things will go better next year. We can all learn from each other and together as a DEI community we strengthen each other. I really believe in that.
We also see this event as a stepping stone for senior referees, in the case of the newcomers or those who would like to be coached, to get them excited about whether they want to whistle for the basketball association/nbb.
And all that in 2 days.

On to edition 3 in 2026. Where Innovation & development is paramount,
for example expanding to urban side event court (there are still plenty of ideas), this in consultation with, where we may be a guest, next to the HTC football field in Zwolle.
