Ja, 3X3 heeft unieke regels zoals een 12-seconden shotklok, het ontbreken van pauzes na een score, en puntenwaardering (1 punt binnen de boog en 2 punten buiten de boog). Ook eindigt de wedstrijd bij het bereiken van 21 punten of meer in reguliere speeltijd. Bij overtime wint het team dat als eerste 2 punten scoort. Voor U12 zijn er aangepaste regels, die worden toegelicht tijdens de pre-game briefing. Coachactiviteiten (zelfs door ouders) zijn bij alle leeftijden niet toegestaan.

Are there specific 3X3 rules referees need to know that differ from traditional 5-on-5 basketball?
Yes, 3X3 has unique rules like a 12-second shot clock, no stoppage after a score, and point valuation (1 point inside the arc, 2 points outside). Games end at 21 points or more in regular time. In overtime, the first team to score 2 points wins. For U12, adjusted rules will be explained during the pre-game briefing. Coaching (even by parents) is not allowed at any level.

Vooraf aan het toernooi is er een korte opleiding voor startende en nieuwe 3X3-scheidsrechters over de belangrijkste regels. Dit is ook een moment voor alle refs om vragen te stellen. Er wordt een opname gemaakt die later gedeeld wordt voor wie niet aanwezig kan zijn.

How can I learn more about the specific 3X3 refereeing rules and 3X3 in general?
Before the tournament, a short training session will be held for new and beginner referees, covering the main rules. This is also a moment for all referees to ask questions. A recording will be shared afterward for those unable to attend.

Je ontvangt een shirt van de organisatie (of gebruikt het shirt van vorig jaar, tenzij er wijzigingen zijn, zoals nieuwe sponsoren). Draag een zwarte korte broek en zwarte sokken. Indien je je fluit vergeet, krijg je er een van ons (Fox 40), samen met een oranje zweetband en toss munt. Overzichten van de veldnummers hangen in de zaal. Neem daarnaast je eigen fluit mee, als je die hebt.

What is the dress code for referees?
You will receive a shirt from the organization (or use last year’s shirt unless there are updates, like new sponsors). Wear black shorts and black socks. If you forget your whistle, we will provide one (Fox 40) along with an orange wristband and toss coin. Court number overviews will be displayed in the venue. Bring your own whistle if you have one.

We doen een pre-game briefing 30 minuten voor de start van de eerste wedstrijden, met een gezamenlijke referee-foto. We vragen je om minimaal 30-45 minuten vooraf aanwezig te zijn. Meestal starten de wedstrijden rond 11:00 uur en eindigen de finales rond 18:30-19:00 uur. Het fluitschema wordt digitaal verstuurd en hardcopy’s zijn ter plekke beschikbaar. Als je klaar bent met fluiten, hoef je niet te blijven.

How long does the tournament last, and when should referees arrive?
We hold a pre-game briefing 30 minutes before the first matches start, along with a group referee photo. Please arrive 30-45 minutes early. Games usually start around 11:00 AM and finals finish by 6:30-7:00 PM. The whistle schedule will be sent digitally and printed copies will be available on-site. Once you’re done officiating, you don’t have to stay.

Er is een referee coördinator aanwezig voor ondersteuning bij incidenten of onenigheid. EHBO is beschikbaar voor blessuregevallen, en bij technische storingen zoals problemen met de shotklok of het scorebord kan de court monitor helpen.

What should I do in case of disputes, injuries, or technical issues during a game?
A referee coordinator will assist with incidents or disputes. First aid is available for injuries, and the court monitor can assist with technical issues like shot clock or scoreboard malfunctions.

We proberen het schema in de volgende wedstrijden in te halen. Er is wat ruimte tussen de games om dit mogelijk te maken.

What happens if a game runs over time?
We will try to adjust the schedule for the following games. There is some buffer time between games to accommodate this.

Je kunt altijd rechtstreeks terecht bij de referee coördinator of de eventcommissie. Na het toernooi wordt ook een evaluatiedocument gedeeld dat we graag ingevuld terugzien.

How can I provide feedback or suggestions?
You can always reach out to the referee coordinator or the event committee. After the tournament, an evaluation form will be shared, and we encourage you to complete it.

Ja, bij HTC is een gratis parkeerterrein beschikbaar. Voor persoonlijke spullen is er een aparte ruimte voor vrijwilligers.

Is parking available, and is there a storage space for referees?
Yes, there is free parking available at HTC. A designated area for volunteers is available to store personal belongings.

Ja, je ontvangt een reiskostenvergoeding voor maximaal 150 km (2x 75 km à €0,23/km) en een toernooivergoeding van €50 voor de hele dag (tot 5 uur fluiten: €32,50). Koffie, thee, water en lunch worden verzorgd. Daarnaast ontvang je consumptiemunten voor overige dranken en warme snacks. De vergoeding wordt na afloop van het toernooi overgemaakt.

Is there a compensation agreed upon for referees?
Yes, you will receive travel reimbursement for up to 150 km (2x 75 km at €0.23/km) and a tournament fee of €50 for the full day (or €32.50 for up to 5 hours of officiating). Coffee, tea, water, and lunch are provided, as well as drink tokens for additional beverages and hot snacks. Payment will be made after the tournament.
